As she drowned, her heart mellowed.
SixWordStories Versicolor Project
Prompt: Mellow Yellow

sigh explaining

Hello, I am Manning Goldman, a writer who thinks in silence more than he does much of anything else. In terms of prose, I prefer abstraction; abstaining from reality yet linking back to it. It's scientific fact that the colors I see are vivaciously different to yours and your cousin's brother's sister's uncle. Therefore, I don't see literal refraction, however, I do see hypothetical representation. To me, mellow yellow is less of about lysergic acid diethylamide or smoking dried banana skins, the Coca-Cola beverage, or even the saturated yellow color of the same name. It is either a soft sadness or a decaying, in a rich manner such as leaves decay, becoming nutrients to the soil. In a sense, my personal definition of the color is directly related to the professional definition of itself; that being sadly sweet or decaying in the manner of leaves returning to the soil. Thus is my impression and interpretation of "mellow yellow." My emotions towards it can be seen in the six words inspired from the said prompt that I have written and submitted. In Shallow Water, she is "made gentle and compassionate by age or maturity;" in other words, she is softened from a tragedy: her death. A hard heart dampened and a bitter drink watered down. Like Miss Havisham in Dickens' Great Expectations, the yellowing of Satis House is the personification of her decaying soul, but, in her final moments, mellows.

Death has a funny way of making us see our lives in a different light.

does that help? I can write you a full report about my philosophy concerning the subject matter, but I'd prefer not to use more of my limited lifespan explaining things in minutiae. let art be art.

When I looked at this, the first thing I thought of was falling deeply in love. I suppose it's not too different from dying, though.
